Joseph & Jesus

We had Bible Class tonight - The Great Bible Adventure with Jeff Cavins. We talked about Jacob and Joseph. The story of Joseph has always been fascinating, sold into slavery by his own brothers only to become the 2nd most powerful man in Egypt. It is a story of forgiveness and redemption and Joseph is a prototype of Jesus.
Here are some of the things we came up with:
Both were: a beloved son of the father, humble, forgiving, resisted temptation, trusted in God, reconciled their brothers, wrongly accused, betrayed and sold for silver, source of food and life, save the world, are stripped of their garments, return to be with those that had betrayed them. Joseph meets with his 11 brothers and reveals himself, Jesus meets with the 11 disciples and reveals his Risen self. The story of Joseph is a great story for Lent; do not look at things as not having a purpose from God even when on surface it looks like it doesn't. Our suffering is a necessary part of what God has willed for us, don't reject it and reject Him.
