Most Christians think of the Pharisees as the "bad guys" of the Gospels. Jesus tangles with them quite frequently. I will say this much without going into a great deal about them. They knew the Pentateuch and the Law, they just did not
understand Jesus as the fulfillment of the Law. The generation of Christians that are growing up now and educated both in Catholic, Christian and public schools are not even looking for signs and that is because their
parents are vested in the material secular world and do not posit that there is a reality beyond it.
If Jesus sighed at the Pharisees what is He doing when we aren't even interested in Him? -
